There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer with us—nationally, locally and in between. Whether you’re looking to lead, support, organize or connect with others, there’s a place for you here.

National volunteer roles

Each year, we fill key volunteer leadership positions through our national elections and appointments process. These include roles on our Board of Directors and several national committees. Opportunities vary by year, and the application process begins each fall. Visit our elections and appointments page to learn more.

District executive roles

Every district depends on volunteers to bring our mission to life in local communities. These roles come with regular support and training from the national office, plus opportunities to travel for in-person meetings and workshops. It’s a meaningful way to apply your skills close to home—while gaining new experiences and building social connections along the way.

Core executive positions typically include:

  • President / Vice-president / Past president – Provide leadership and continuity for the district.
  • Secretary – Maintain records and support meetings and communication.
  • Treasurer – Oversee financial planning and reporting.
  • Membership coordinator – Help welcome and connect with members.
  • Events coordinator – Organize social and learning events.
  • Community grants representative – Promote and support the grant program.
  • Foundation advocate – Raise awareness and engagement with the foundation.
  • Political advocacy coordinator – Support local efforts for policy change.
  • Newsletter editor / Social media coordinator – Share news and stories.
  • Travel coordinator – Organize group travel and excursions.
  • Website coordinator – Keep the district’s site current and helpful.
  • Goodwill coordinator – Offer care and connection for members in need.
  • Marketing and outreach coordinator – Boost visibility and engagement.

If you’re interested in one of these roles, contact your local district.

Local roles and special initiatives

Many districts also offer informal and social volunteer roles. You might help coordinate coffee chats, book clubs, walking groups or a restaurant night. These opportunities are flexible, meaningful, and a great way to connect with others. Reach out to your district to find out what’s possible.
