Who can join

Our comprehensive insurance plans are the most popular benefit of membership. It’s easy to join Entente Education Canada. Once you’re a member, you can apply for the insurance coverage you need.

To be eligible for our group insurance, you must:

• Have your permanent residence in Canada and be covered by a government health insurance plan 
• Be an Entente Education Canada member. Membership is free until you retire and when you join our Entente Plus Group Insurance Program.

Membership is open to:

• Anyone who works or has worked in the education sector in any role – this includes post-secondary, public and private k to 12 education, early years, ministries of education, First Nations schools and student transportation.  
• Immediate family members of members. Immediate family includes: 
  • partner, spouse, ex-spouse
  • child, stepchild, child-in-law
  • grandchild
  • sibling, stepsibling and sibling-in-law
  • parent, step-parent and parent-in-law

Dependents can be covered too and don’t need to be members to be covered

A spouse or dependent child can join a plan without the policyholder also being insured within the same plan if the Entente Education Canada member is a policyholder with at least one other plan.

Spouse

Your spouse or partner doesn’t need to be a member to be eligible for coverage. A spouse includes a spouse through legal marriage or a partner who has lived with you for at least the last 12 months.

Children

Your dependent children don’t need to be members to be covered. Many Entente members have dependent children at home, in care homes or completing post-secondary studies. Coverage is available for:

• Unmarried children under 21 who aren’t employed full-time
• Unmarried children under 30 who are enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution and who are dependent on you for support
• Children who are disabled, unmarried and who depend on you for financial support
